A friend of mine told a former witch about my Spiritual Warfare Stakes.
This woman had practiced witchcraft for many years. Her children were raised and reared during the time she was casting spells as a witch deeply involved in the occult–a demonic liaison. After the kids were grown and gone from home, now living their own confused and messed-up lives, she and her husband found Jesus Christ. They had walked away from that evil life and all it’s demonic practices. They had named Jesus as their Lord and Savior, been baptized, and were regularly and actively involved in a non-denominational church only about 45 minutes from my house.
This lady understood the importance of prayer, the Word of God, and protection from demons. She got the stakes and, working together, installed them deep in the ground on the four corners of her property with her husband’s help. Satan hates it when you leave his domain (darkness) and turn to God’s (light and truth). Little did she know that this would stir up evil against her.
The very night after placing the stakes around her home, as the clock stuck midnight, strange things began to happen. Angry noises and banging from the attic above their bed and on the roof caused her and her husband to awake in a start.
“I knew what it was,” she explained soberly, “I had been involved in the occult for many years. It was demonic. But that didn’t make it any less scary.”
She and her husband knew they were under attack, so their hit their knees in prayer together by the side of their bed. They prayed through the night, seeking God’s supernatural protection and deliverance from the evil they knew had them surrounded.
She was thoughtful of me, waiting until seven a.m. the next morning to give me a call seeking advice.
“I’m sorry for calling so early, but I need your help,” she began, “we installed the stakes yesterday and then had a problem in the night.”
She explained the strange occurrences.
“Did we do something wrong?” she inquired?
“No,” I quickly responded. “That happens when there is something somewhere on the property that dishonors God, honors Satan, or gives allegiance to some foreign God. Can you think of anything like that you have in your home?”
“Oh my goodness,” came her answer, “I still have all my books of spells and witchcraft!”
“You need to burn those,” I instructed.
“You are right,” she readily responded, “I didn’t even think of that.”
They did. They burned all her occult materials. And for two weeks, everything was fine all through each night.
I’m beginning to learn that demons don’t always come back to the same homes on their route every single night. It can often be days, weeks, or even months between visits or manifestations.
So it happened again about two weeks later. Same attacks, same sounds, same noises, and same responsive prayers by the edge of the bed with her husband on his knees at her side.
Again, she was kind enough to wait until about seven a.m. the next morning rather than calling me in the middle of the night. (I am a sound sleeper, and even though I might talk and respond in the night, I won’t remember the event the next morning.)
“What’s the next step?,” she asked urgently. “We burned all my books on witchcraft just as you instructed. Though they were paper, certain pages wouldn’t burn, so we chopped those up into small pieces, and buried them far away from our property. But the noises and attacks came again last night. So what is the next step?” she asked again?
“The next step,” I replied, “is to pray to God that He will reveal to you what it is that dishonors Him that is still on the property somewhere. It might be something you forgot about, something buried on the property, or even something hidden somewhere in the house that is evil, giving demons the right to be there. Tell God that you will destroy it if He will only reveal it to You, and He WILL show you what it is.”
“OK,” she answered. Then she hung up the phone.
That evening before bed, she prayed with her husband asking God to reveal the item or items dishonoring Him, promising to remove and destroy it if He would. Then they went to bed.
And she had a dream.
In the dream, there was another book on witchcraft that she had forgotten she had. It was under a couch in a guest bedroom. In the dream, the couch would fly up off the floor several feet in the air, and then come crashing down, only to repeat this procedure over and over.
Many times we dream, but have no memory of the details of the dream when we awake. But she woke up and remembered every detail. She hurried into that bedroom and bent to look underneath. Sure enough, there was another book of witchcraft there that she had forgotten she had.
She burned it, and the strange nocturnal happenings stopped for God.
Never forget, God is still on the throne, He still uses dreams when He wants to, prayer still works, and He is willing to reveal evil objects around your home if you are willing to destroy them to honor Him.
